I'm unsure - some are luckier than others to be good looking. It's a bit shallow. Entertaining, but shallow.


I think it represents a lot of what is wrong in society - women are valued for their looks, and paraded around as trophies. It's not something I'd personally want, for myself or my children. On the other hand, would I begrudge them the rewards if they won a competition? No.


If someone is giving away prizes for parading around in a bathing suit - well, it's easy money.


It's all hypocricy and you have to doubt the integrity of the sponsors.What is your opinion of Beauty Contests?
I was a judge once at one in college in a nightclub, The girl i thought should win was not liked by any of the other judges. For some reason I found they all went for the one girl who's dad was wealthy and owned the nightclub. I stuck to my guns and would not go along with them. Today I can tell you she is still a much nicer, friendly honest hardworking girl than the one that did win. Proved my point in saying she was the best one over the last two decades in fact. While the other one who did win is as much a snob today as she was in 1988.
I just got fed up of turning up and winning all the time, Jomamo, it stopped being ....you know.. a challenge I suppose.

Of course. Used to do alot of portraits of women(men, children, animals %26amp; landscapes) and have a good eye for beauty. Regularly I compliment female friends and associates on their beauty or other positives.


It's not something that fazes me, I compliment alot of people(male and female) I meet and ask questions about their style/beauty regimen. Makes a persons day when you tell them they look great.

If I know her, or have a chance to talk to her, I will give her praise where its due and like her as a person if that praise is gratefully received. However, I do believe beauty comes from the inside - if she is beautiful and gracious, I think she is more than beautiful - she is wonderful. But if her personality is cold or arrogant, she is only ugly.

I think they do, but unless they are friends, she will not give much more than a simple (and perhaps inner) remark about the other woman's hair, clothes or whatever that piked her interest.
Guys can too if they are secure with their sexuality. Everyone can recognize what is good looking or not. If you can recognize what is not good looking, then you most likely can have an ability to judge if one of the same sex is good looking or maybe better looking than you. Perhaps women have a better aesthetic judgment than men, which for some men their visual ability only runs or judges regarding sex. Even though, I kind of doubt it. But symmetry, facial structure and such aesthetic things are part of for what is judged as good looking for one person and not for another person. And this does not have anything to do with sex. Recognition of this has nothing to do with sex or attraction.





Finding a person attractive and sexually attractive are too different things. Therefore a woman admiring or recognizing another woman as beautiful, pretty, or good looking does not mean she is sexually attracted to women, as I know several women who admire and may a find or say a girl here or there are pretty and they are straight as an arrow.

Yeah, we do. I definately notice if another woman is attractive and what it is about her that makes her that way, if it's a physical feature, a certain aspect of her style, or just her general presence.

recognising is no problem-but its how one deals with the recognition varies from woman to woman. I usually try to see the good qualities in the person and that takes away any feeling of jealousy or inadequacies one may feel in the persons company

I feel happy that people's outlook on beauty is progressively moving away from only one type. After all, this is Miss UNIVERSE - which is SUPPOSED to be a competition for diversity! In the past, the majority of winners have been White or Latina, but barely Asian or African. It's a great %26amp; fresh change, and Japan had such a cute personality :)





For all of you who think this competition is solely based on looks, think again. It's not about who's the ';hottest'; girl in the bunch - it's who's the most well rounded girl and the one who seems extra special - although some of the other contestants were prettier than Japan, you could tell by her body language that she was very happy and comfortable in her own skin. That's what probably won the judges over.

As for how it reflected on the U.S., that was kind of funny as well. The U.S. has obviously been taking quite a beating ever since the war started and I'm sure there were a ton of people who were happy to see Miss USA fall. It was symbolic for them.

You could possibly start by outlining traditional areas of beauty (sunsets, mountains, lakes, that sort of thing) and then go on to talk about more modern things that are considered beautiful (such as maybe wind turbines?) and then pose the question why can't Tattoos etc. be considered a form of modern beauty? Say why you consider them to be beautiful. Beauty isn't just something aesthetically pleasing, but also that causes joy and happiness to individuals (i.e. newborn babies).

It isn't natural. Very few people can or will have a ';perfect body'; without working out, eating right, or surgery. To have butt, boobs, and a flat stomach all takes work. You cannot neglect working out/eating right and have a perfect body, and both of those factors are specific actions you have to consciously do. And boobs are a coin toss. You either got the genes or you don't.It seems so impossible, to have that perfect bod and be natural, so how did it become the ideal beauty?
barbies butt isnt that big. and no matter who you are, you can have a flat tummy. the USA has just gotten so fat that women actually think their obesity is ';natural'; and ';cant be helped.'; I think having a bubble butt isnt something you can really work for, you either are born with one or you arent. ive seen small girls with big boobs but the only people with humongous boobs are either fat chicks, pregnant women or girls with implants.
Thats not where it counts ! I have seen people who have all that and when they open their mouth dont have it on the inside. Sad but true. We see perfect because lots of people are making that happen thru plastic surgery. We get spoofed by the media into thinking we need it all. But that is not reality. Whatever you have inside is what makes the ouside look awsome. We can work at some things like flat tummy , I know we want to look fit, but I had small chest and was so self conscience of it and made fun of by the boys inn class. I hope the makers of Barbies feel awful about how they are distorting the world's and especially a child's view of beauty.

i am doing a system proposal and i need to do a justification for the cost of losing a customer in my proposal. Just wondering what the average is for women to go to the salon for haircuts, perms, manicures, etc.How many times a year should a woman go to the beauty salon?
I go to get my hair done every six weeks. I get a haircut each time and highlights about every other time. When I'm into manicures I go every week or every two weeks.How many times a year should a woman go to the beauty salon?
At least once a month. Hair is usually every other month, but mani's and pedi's are every other week!





Plus, who doesnt love going to the beauty salon!!

Hair cuts I actually do myself. They come out better and a lot more even than when my stylist does them. Permed just once. Mani and pedicures...I do those myself. I don't trust the instruments because they're used on so many other people and you can get flesh eating bacteria from the foot baths.

I don't know about the rest, because I don't use those services.
Ideally, once a month for a manicure and pedicure.

To be honest everyone is different and therefore go for different reasons. Im a 23 year old female and i can live with going to get my hair done every couple of months.





In regards to manicures etc i tend to look after them myself but for special occassions i might get them done professionally.





For things like waxing i also try and do this myself but i chicken out quite a lot so i only really get it done professionally if its for a specific reason like summer holidays etc.





Then again i know some people who get their hair done every six weeks and styled inbetween as well and who get a wax like every month. So its kinda difficult to give an average. Im sure some other helpful people will be able to assist!
I get highlights and a cut about every 8 weeks. When my hair was shorter I went every 5 to 6 weeks.

Less is nore in regards to makeup. The top foundation makeup artists use is Mac Face and Body, as it is very natural but makes your skin look amazing. This is a good investment as no-one in their right mind wants an orange face!





Also drink plenty water and get enough sleep.

The moutains are spectacular - UT just doesn't have the same quality of mountains - and the sheer mass of them that CO does. Better weather in CO. There are vast stretches of UT that are not scenic at all. (The eastern plains of CO are similar.) The entire front range though (along the mountains - where Denver and the urban corridor is - you are hard pressed to find a place that is not scenic.)





What UT has that CO does not - Moab and the eastern part of UT are spectacular! Also - Zion and Bryce Canyon are some of the most beautiful places on earth.Which state has more beauty colorado or utah?

IMHO - overall Utah is the more naturally beautiful state. Half of Colorado is flat prairie





Utah's mountains aren't as impressive as the Colorado Rockies, but they are none the less beautiful. Utah also has salt flats and the Canyon Lands and Monument Valley which are spectacular.
Colorado for both. Utah is kinda podunk. Denver almost always looks like a picture in a magazine, and we have shopping and events. I personally would never live in Utah. Denver is amazing, some fun things to do are the zoo, museum, eliches, water world, Rocky Mountain NAtional Park, the aquarium, the Stanley hotel where the shinning was shot, and of course all the hiking biking sking and rafting.
I loved both, but CO would be my answer for both. Utah has amazing work features and alot of different stuff, but colorado is much cleaner and prettier. Co is just breathtaking and would never get old.

It sounds simple and obvious, but they drink a lot of water. Water really does give the face a natural glow.


Getting regular exercise releases natural endorphins in the body. They make your body happy and they make your skin really healthy and smooth.


By the way, JLo is pregnant, and I'm sure that makes up some of the glow in her face.


They use air brushed foundation. It's really expensive. From Sephora, you can get Dior air brushed foundation for about $60. It works really well though.

Jlo said a long time ago salmone was her secret. Eating healthy foods and plenty of water. I know that sounds too easy, but, drink nothing but water for two days, and youll see the difference in your skin.
I'm sure they get regular facials and a lot of hydration. My skin always (temporarily) glows after a facial and looks great, but not for long! Plus, we only see them 'made up', and there are a lot of highlighters out there you can apply to your face for that 'glow' in both powder form, and in a cream(what I have).
It's not only makeup!





When you see them it's only on a tv screen!


They are all fake!


They use computers to enhance their skin to make them look flawless and appear to glow!

Women's ideas about beauty varies with each of us. Just like guys have different ideas about beauty for women. We're not shallow just a bit picky...I'm flexible though...Mine is: a cute derriere, hair should be neat and groomed or long and wavy, a slight stubble or clean shaven, no chest hair please--a little is okay, nice eyes, sweet lips, etc. You should also be well dressed too-but sweats and a tee works just fine for me!
It is very difficult to remove personality from looks. What I mean is hairstyle, facial hair, a strong muscular physique or soft muscle tone is all dependent on personality. I personally LOVE strong, masculine mixed with a little metro look. Go look at the Chip and Dale models. There is a reason those guys make a lot of money for women to look at them!

To keep it clean and simple:


*use a tinted moisturiser as close to your skin tone as possible so it will look really fresh and as if you're wearing nothing to cover your skin.


*mascara in brown/black.


*a little bit of blusher (blusher isn't made so you can see that you're wearing it, it's made to give you a healthy glow).


*lipgloss in any colour you like but not too strong.


I think that's enough to wear in school, it's quick to put on in the morning and you can keep the special make-up for weekends or after school.

I would get Bare Minerals powder foundation. I use it, and I have freckles, plus very light, pale skin. I use Bare Minerals, it covers so good! I don't need to blend it in to my neck or anything, because it covers, plus it blends in itself! It really does work, and I get it from Sephora. I have a hard time with liquid makeup because I can never get it to blend in, or get the right color for my skin tone. Then, just add a little blush, lip gloss, and eye makeup if you would like, and that's it!
Well, first of all, you need to pick the right eyeliner. I am a brown person. So brown or black? Then you need to get the ones w/ da smuger on the one side and smuge it along the small area around where u would put ur eyeliner on. It gives it a softer not as BOLD feel. And get a clump free mascara. And depending on ur eye color is the color eye shadow. ALWAYS apply the darker side closer to ur eyelashes ( not ON them) and if u do a lighter shade do A way lighter. I don't reccomend it tho. Blush... ehh. Not really needed. As for lip liner, do a softer shade. A shade that is close to your lip color ( or the gloss/lipstick ur putting on). DO NOT over do ur make up. Make sure it's a soft thing. If u do like a RED or a WHITE eye shadow... u'll look like a clown. And trust me, I don't want u to look like that. What kind of eyeliner do you wear? If it's black, try changing to navy blue, and do it ';the french'; way. Which means put it on the little sliver of skin in between your lower eyelashes, and your actual eye. Use very light colored foundation that still matches your skin ( Liquid, then powder) and use a brush, not the little fluffy pad thing that comes in the case of powder. eye shadows like light brown, pastels like light pink, and VERY light green, and maybe nude colored will be noticeable, but not too the point where people are telling you to take it off. Light pinkish lipstick and some clear lipgloss will add some shimmer, but again, NOT TOO MUCH....no blush! blush makes you look fake, try rouging your cheeks, it's an old technique used in the 1800's and early 1900's for a quick natural pinkish look on your cheeks. what you do is pinch your cheeks and kind of rub them. Look it up. 1 coat of mascara should be just fine, and if you have a lash curler, 5-8 seconds of curling should defiantly be enough. I normally just puton eyeliner, lipgloss, and mascara for school, but for a night on the town, you can go as far as you want to or you can still look pretty with everything on.

i heard a white eye pencil makes your eyes look bigger too, but i never tried it.


if you want add a litter shimmer to your eyelids


i dont think you shud use any heavy eyeshadows...just things like nudes browns or golds


then add a clear or nude pretty lip gloss, you shud look clean nd pwitty





if your goin out and you want a dramatic look...


go dramatic with either EITHER the eyes or lips!

because why should one say that asians are not attractive because they have almond shaped eyes, flat butts or below 6 feet or that blacks are not attractive because they have nappy hair,and sometimes big nose and lips and thier color..i have never heard words like ';she is so unattractive because she is blonde, or she has big eyes or she is too fair,or too thin nose and lips, all of which are caucasian features...Should the caucasian image be the model for evaluating beauty?

No Caucasian should not be the standard by which everyone evaluates beauty. I know I think Asian women are far more beautiful than Caucasian women as a rule and I am a white, blond hair blue eyed man. I think the almond eyes, and features of Asian women are very pretty. I kills me when I hear of an Asian woman trying to whiten her skin or has plastic surgery to make her eyes rounder or bigger. It is so crazy!! I think there are many pretty Caucasian women, but Asians are so much more attractive in my opinion. I think there are pretty black women to. I don't know why the Caucasian look has become such a standard of beauty. I have always felt that Asians were much more beautiful in their looks than white women overall.

Well, I guess women have to take the good with the bad. There are pros and cons for both genders. But, in all honesty, good looking men are usually treated better (and get away with more) than less attractive men. So I think it goes for both genders. Plenty of men are insecure about their looks. And men are facing more pressure every day.





Women are individuals. They are not all the same. People are too obsessed with stereotypes. Women have different talents, passions and personalities. Feminine traits aren't necessarily looked down upon. Look around. People who know how to be sensitive, helpful and kind are valued. Many men have these qualities as well. Forget about magazines. They don't reflect real life. Women like to look at ';beautiful'; pictures of other women as well. So if women really want these fake and often quite bizarre pictures of ';perfection'; (in magazines and elsewhere) to end, then they should STOP buying all these magazines. It's all about supply and demand. Also, men who actually expect women to look like that, are tools. They really should know better.

If they appear like crazy you might want to check with doctor. It may be a bad sign. The worry here is skin cancer. I'm not saying you got it, I'm saying what is the possible concern. That is a sign of skin cancer... when you notice lots of new moles/beatuymarks or ones you have all of a sudden getting larger it could be the beginning of melenoma.. Consult your DERM or DOC.
It is a good idea to get it checked out by a skin specialist. Here in Australia we are told we should be wearing a sunblock even in winter and have you been using a tanning salon ? I don't know where you are from but here in Australia we are cautioned against using a tanning salon and if you use it no more than twice a week for 15 minutes we had a 27 year old woman die.
