Can beauty truly exist without sight?

If you were born without the sensation of sight can you truly appreciate beauty? One can argue you can experience beauty through the sensation of sound but what do you think you can truly say something is beautiful when you dont have the ability to compare it to something from sight? (i.e a flower, a girl, the sunset). Most songs and melodies were inspired by something seen. Can beauty truly exist without sight?
Yes, you can. One sense can not capture an entire emotion. Something can feel beautiful, can sound beautiful, can possibly taste beautiful. The inability to compare by sight a thing of beauty does not render that beauty void. Can beauty truly exist without sight?
Beauty comes in many forms. In English the word beauty usually means things seen. But there is beautiful music and while it's not called so in English things can taste beautiful and flowers can smell beautiful. There are things that feel beautiful. I believe your emotions can see/feel/experience beauty, like spending time with a deeply appreciated friend. You can't see the wind but when a beautiful breeze roles by on a hot day you sure appreciate it.
Certainly, beauty is a completely subjective perception. So one could even say that they have never seen anything beautiful in their entire life although they had perfect vision.

Stevie Wonder was born blind and you wouldn't ask him if he's ever truly heard a beautiful song.

Merriam Webster's Definition is:

1 : having qualities of beauty : exciting aesthetic pleasure

2 : generally pleasing : excellent

** Note entry #2.
Depends on a lot of things.

If ';Beauty is in the eye of the beholder'; and this is taken literally then no but if the ';eye'; is really the mind's eye then yes. I personally believe it to be so because of the way people personalities affect how I feel about them. An example of this would be if one was an extreme supporter of a political view and an extremely attractive person was an extreme supporter of the other. They can be Jessica Alba and you can still feel no attraction (nahhh).
beauty exists in nature whether or not someone is around to see it or can see it for that matter. Beauty in my opinion is an emotion like love. strong emotions or connections make things beautiful. For instance you may spend time with someone who isn't really good looking but the more time you spend with him or her the more attractive they look. So in short if the person is capable of feeling emotions then the person is capable of feeling beauty.
You can not appreciate beauty without sight. How could say something is Beautiful without seeing those things? Music, sound and the likes are different they are appreciated by our sense of hearing. Would you say this music is beautiful? Beautiful is something that you can see.
Ever just close your eyes and look up at the sun, feel the warmth? Ever heard the soothing sound of your favorite song? Or felt the touch of a loved one? That, my Friend, is true beauty, not only just the sight of a thing.
';Beauty is in the eye of the beholder'; ~plato. its true. if someone didnt have sight, they would have a different opinion of what beauty is. Nobody can define beauty for somebody else. beauty is how a person perceives beauty to be.
You will never know because you were not born blind.

A blind person may tell you that, ';yes, I experience beauty,'; but is their idea of beauty the same as yours?

You will never know.
well, does a colorblind person appreciate beauty? sure, but in a different way. so do blind people. they appreciate beauty in a way we don't understand.
Yes. Look at classical or any other instrumental music. People debate on the greatness and beauty of it all the time...and there isn't any references to physical objects, other than the titles.
I think the texture of a tree is beautiful even if i didn't know what a tree looked like the feeling is pleasurable. Catch my drift?
Beauty isn't all on the outside. There's wondrous beauty on the inside. Most songs are inspired by what we feel, and not by what we see.
beauty is all around us

it is within and without

it is within and without us
i believe so....its all about the inside...my heart doesnt go towards the perfect flower...it goes to the flower that lives through harsh times and still manages to survive...
';That was beautiful'; says the blind couple after making out.
Beauty exists only in the mind. So, I would say yes, beauty does exist without sight.
Sound, touch, scent, taste. There's your answer.
