it makes me sad that we try so hard to be impossibly perfect..do you think in the process of trying to look like a supermodel clone we never get to accept and appreciate true beauty? im not just talking about inner beauty but also our own unique outer beauty..the person we see in the mirror..How did our idea of beauty become so distorted?
It is very bad that a ';beautiful'; image is nearly impossible to acheive without great genes or plastic surgery. But the worse part is, no matter how beautiful you think you are because of your own unique outer beauty, too many people will still believe the media is more beautiful than uniqueness. How did our idea of beauty become so distorted?
The mass media (e.g. TV, Internet and magazines) are to blame. The images we see in these media outlets are of Hollywood women, models or porn stars who make a lot of money so they can afford to get cosmetic surgery done to change the imperfections they were born with. So what we see is not the appearance they were naturally born with like the rest of us. The majority of women can't afford cosmetic surgery since most health insurances won't cover it. I wish we had more images of real women without plastic surgery in the mass media.
I agree. We've become so obsessed with what society considers beautiful we have completely lost the ability to see that we all have something to offer. God made us all special and different. We should embrace ourselves. True beauty comes from within and we should all stand up against these beauty stereotypes.
I agree that there is a problem with the extreme thinness of models and actresses right now. However I actually think that uniqueness is more celebrated now than ever before. Top models no longer have tiny turned up noses and big blue eyes. Top models are often very exotic looking. You see models of every ethnicity some with big noses, close set eyes, square jaws, %26amp; over sized teeth. These women are beautiful because of their oddness and now that is finally being recognized. Models in past decades had healthier bodies, yes, but they all had the same face.
i agree fully
i think dove has a real point
we are beautiful in our own skin
not trying to be someone who we are not
no one is perfect and trying to starve ourselves or trying to dye our hair blonde just takes us farther away from where we want to be
thats is a really sad video
the sad thing is
it starts at young age
because i started worring about my looks and body
when i was playing with barbie
you know?
