How can learn to be less superficial and learn to accept more democratic views of beauty?

If you are superficial it is because your focus is on yourself which is ok but the focus could be switched to a more righteous dharmic attitude. You see the body changes and becomes old maybe less attractive. Much of the world compares to the superficial because of the media of TV and movies. It makes many people feel inferior because they are not built so perfect as those who are chosen to be filmed.

It is nice to look good to get attention. If that is your need then realize that you are looking for Love. There is only one lasting Love and that is the Love of God. It matters more what you are inside because your spirit is eternal and your soul will reflect what is in your heart. Jesus said to build up your energy (treasure) in heaven instead of that which is on earth outside of self. That ill only fade away. It is not what goes into a man that defiles him, but what comes out, because that is from the heart. Switch your attention from outer beauty to inner beauty. Then you may want to switch your attention from yourself and vanity to service to God by helping people.

It is not wrong to look good. what we do with it that makes a difference. One should stay well groomed. Done in good taste, glorifies God and his creation.

Democratic views of beauty??

What's that?

Beauty is different for all people, some find different things attractive.

You should just go for what you like but remember that all people are beautiful in their own way. You have to look harder to find it in some people. How can learn to be less superficial and learn to accept more democratic views of beauty?
well beauty is in the eye of the beholder but the standard of beauty is clearly but wrongly defined by men. you can learn to be less superficial by learning to love yourself for who you are in terms of what good gave you. what he gave you was a perfect creation. how can you not love that unless you let someone else define what beauty is.
I think you mean ';sensical'; rather than ';democratic';.

And until unrealisim falls out of style, those of us with sense must wait.
Try getting to know some people around you who are not beautiful in the usual sense. Try looking for the heart of the person-love, respect, wisdom, kindness. Look at the most beautiful person who has ever lived-Jesus Christ. You can get to know Him by reading the Bible.
I think you mean ';liberal'; views of beauty.

Edit: ';Democratic,'; really?! What are you imagining, a vote to decide what is ';beautiful?'; Or, is the current common conception of beauty in some way ';communist'; to you?
