Why is niagara falls important for reasons other then it';s beauty?

If you're referring to Niagara Falls the city, it is also important as a tourist destination. The city's casinos, museums, and other attractions generate a lot of income for the area and, at the same time, provides much needed jobs for the residents. A convention centre is planned for the city, which will create more job opportunities and hopefully attract those companies and organizations that normally hold their gatherings in Toronto to come to the Falls.

As a geographical landmark, it's part of the Niagara River which provides drainage between Lakes Erie and Ontario. As well, the Niagara River corridor provides a migratory path for certain species of birds that bird watchers from hundreds of miles around come to view. For a while, there was a Peregrine Falcon nest on a ledge not more than a couple hundred feet from the brink of the Falls. Why is niagara falls important for reasons other then it';s beauty?
It is true that the energy of Niagara Falls and the Niagara River is important.

Another reason that the two are important is for strategic reasons. This region made a great natural barrier from attacks from the Americans. Without this barrier the Americans would have had an easier time invading the British colonies and Canada would not be what it is today.

The only reason that the border between Canada and the USA is between the St. Lawrence Seaway is because this body of water served us a strategic purpose. Why is niagara falls important for reasons other then it';s beauty?
It provides almost 4 1/2 million kilowatts of electricity to both Canada and the USA.
The Battle of Lundy's Lane was fought there. It was an important battle in the War of 1812.

The hydro electricity it generates.
You could use the energy and create electricity.
